COBA is the new independent body that represents the mutuals, buliding societies and credit unions of Australia. And they needed a campaign to push for an independent banking inquiry, as the Big 4 Banks had too much control. Unfortunately, it wasn't on Mr. Rudd's political agenda. So Mo Shono and I created a campaign to 'help him' get it on his priority list. The idea had two stages. First, full page press ads were bought saying that "Kevin was demanding changes in bank legislation." It wasn't Kevin Rudd, but some other Kevin from Cronulla who had issues with the big banks. The ads would drive consumers to our website "Help Kevin Help Kevin" where we had a Kevin Rudd look-alike who was going to take it upon himself to tackle this banking issue, as the real Kevin Rudd was too busy.
The election was then called and we all know how that ended, so the campaign never saw the light of day, unfortunately. But it was in full production mode, and definitely worth sharing.
